Q & A
What is this? - RSS, Search Engines, Portals, Community and Social Networking Sites
Michael Miller July 31, 2008
The Internet is evolving rapidly, as you all know. The established portals and search engines continue to develop, and community and social networking sites are becoming increasingly popular, especially among younger cybernauts. We at The Berkshire Review for the Arts try to keep in touch with the latest developments.

RSS feeds have been around for a long time. We have now added that to our channels of distribution, as a supplement to our regular newletters.

In addition to our own social network, Berkshire Artsnet, we also have pages on Facebook and MySpace, as well as Dilettante, a social networking site just for Classical musicians and music lovers. We are also on Digg, Technorati, Bloglines, de.licio.us, StumbleUpon and others, where content sources (That means us!) become more prominent as readers recommend them. You can find most of these on the "Bookmark" link in the left column. A click is all it takes.

Look for further developments soon.

What is RSS and how do I use it?

Some of the best guides appear on the BBC World Service, Slate, and—very simply—on the BBC's Feed Factory. Follow the links to read them. Like Slate we distribute our feeds via Feedburner.

I heart FeedBurner
